It will now cost a Citizen App user $19.99 each month to ensure they are safe. Protect, the new paid feature, which Citizen App launched a few months ago will eventually be available to Citizen App’s over 8 million subscribers.
Since it’s conception in 2016, Citizen App has remained focused on ensuring it keeps its users safe. However, in recent days, the company behind the security alert app has been facing scrutiny from members of the public who claim that the app does not keep users safe but expose them to more danger.
When it started, Citizen App was using the name Vigilante, a name that has now been used to mean the app is used to target the wrong people. In a more recent scenario, Citizen App’s platform has been accused of sending wrong signals on innocent people.
The case in particular is when Citizen App announced in August last year that it will award a user or anybody who would help in the identification and later arrest of a man who was suspected of causing fire in May. It later turned out that the man whose head was worthy $30,000 did not take part in the suspected arson incident.
Protect, the new Citizen App’s feature works by monitoring the user’s location and reports to a live agent if the user feels unsafe. Once the CA employee gets an alert from the ‘unsafe user’, he/she goes ahead to escalate the case to first responders in the vicinity or even calls 911. While speaking during the launch of the Protect feature, Andrew Frame, Citizen App’s CEO said, “Protect will not in any way compete or replace 911. Instead, the new paid feature will help in the fight against insecurity in the users’ vicinity thus in a way, Protect will only help 911 in fighting unsafe situations.” Visit this page for additional information.
